The Hebrew phrase “Tikkun Olam” means “repair the world.” In modern Jewish circles, Tikkun Olam has become synonymous with the notion of social action and the pursuit of social justice. Because the Food Insecurity landscape changed drastically overnight for the worse, and we were called upon to do more – to especially support Farmworkers in Homestead, the people who pick our food. In partnership with Temple Israel and Beth Or we collected enough groceries to support 145 migrant families living in constant fear/uncertainty due to a torrent of immigration policies that have uprooted their lives.
Give Miami Day is a chance to witness the overwhelming generosity of our community and an opportunity for every person to play a role in shaping a Greater Miami that we are proud to call home. As the financial fuel for over 1,000 nonprofits, this community-wide event is The Miami Foundation’s largest annual initiative to help build a thriving Greater Miami.
As we prepare for the High Holy Days we are reminded how important it is to reach out to our family, friends and business relationships with wishes for a sweet and healthy year ahead. Our honey fundraiser provides an opportunity to send jars of delicious honey with a personal greeting to those who are important in our lives. By purchasing sweet honey you are benefitting the Center for Jewish Life at Beth David. The annual Honey From The Heart Fundraiser is a joint program of the Gordon School Parents Association and Beth David Women’s League.
We help in the Lotus House kitchen every 1st and 3rd Thursday (11 AM - 2 PM) in partnership with Temple Israel

During Purim, our Gordon and Center families come together to collect for the JCS Food Drive. JCS’ Kosher Food Bank provides food to more than 400 families, 70 Holocaust survivors and 225 children annually.
PACT uses the power of large organized people to hold public officials accountable to create systemic change in Miami-Dade County. PACT is a ‘direct action’ organization, it hosts large community assemblies where public officials are encouraged to adopt solutions to serious problems.
Our vision is for anyone who comes to the Center to feel they belong – whether they were born Jewish, chose Judaism, or neither. Your support keeps us going. We hope you’ll join us in nurturing a community where all of us can thrive.
